Sarah and Gert travel to South Africa as k's Choice
Although both Sarah and Gert are working on their respective solo careers (Sarah released two solo albums "Go" in 2004 and "Scream" in 2005 and Gert's first solo album with his new band "Woodface" will be released on September 19th) they are both joining forces to embark on a small South African tour to support the release of k's compilation album "10". You can find all confirmed dates on the tour page.

Jan replaces Gert in Venus in Flames
As k's Choice is starting their US tour next week and both Sarah and Gert will pursue their solo careers after this tour, Gert decided to leave Venus in Flames, the band he toured with since they released their first album "Notes of Tenderness" (which album he also produced). Of course that means Venus in Flames had to find a new guitar player and the new man for the job is no less a person than... Jan Van Sichem Jr. !!!!  First rehearsals have been great, the first show with Jan will be next saturday!

Sarah and Gert team up with Koen Renders and Herman Acke
Once again Sarah and Gert lent their voices to another very promising young Belgian band which goes by the name of “Spencer the Rover”. Their second album “Spencer is your friend” will be released in the fall.

The very first single “Pretty Young Girl” features Gert and Jan de Campenaere (Venus in Flames) on backing vocals and the second single “One Step”, due to be released very soon, features Gert AND Sarah on backing vocals.

And if you take a look at their website www.spencertherover.com (and the single’s artwork) you will definitely recognize... Gert’s little buddy!!

Sarah almost ready for new start
Patience is a great virtue, but the waiting is almost over... In the month of May Sarah will release her very first solo CD of the post k's Choice era. Schedule and record company issues have delayed this long-awaited release, but with five new songs Sarah's first mini album will confirm her undisputable talent as singer-songwriter. In the company of producer and multi-instrumentalist Greg Wells, Sarah will prove that there is life after k's Choice! With two ballads (Grey, Don't Stop) and three up-tempo pop/rock songs (Go, Fine, Follow me) the new CD is not just a CD-single with a couple of b-sides or extra tracks, but an exciting collection of 5 brand new radio-ready songs.

At this point, summer concerts are in the pipeline, but no dates have been confirmed yet. Confirmations will follow very soon.

This is also one of the last updates regarding Sarah's solo career on www.kschoice.com as we will launch Sarah's own website very soon. The address... so obvious: www.sarahbettens.com

K's Choice only beaten by mega websites
Our website did very well in the annual "Best Site of the Year" competition . In the Top 100 of nominated websites we ended on the 23th spot and got only beaten by the biggest national websites such as Radio and TV stations, national papers, providers and search engines (although we left the two biggest Belgian papers far behind us!) The award was won by Google... we guess this says it all.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who voted for us and gave us a spot amongst the biggest websites in the band's home country!! See ya next year?

Venus in Flames plays Notes of Tenderness
Gert’s very first album as a producer is on the shelves as we speak. The very first album by Venus in Flames, fronted by singer-songwriter Jan de Campenaere, « Notes of Tenderness » has been released in Belgian today ! And… as mentioned at earlier occasions, be prepared to find a couple of other familiar names on this album as Koen is playing drums, Bart Delacourt (ex-k’s Choice) is playing bass and Sarah is singing backing vocals on 3 tracks (Notes of Tenderness, Cynthia’s gone, Heart & Bones). Gert will also join Jan de Campenaere and his band on tour, so mark your agenda as Gert will play his very first post- k’s Choice concert on November 17th in the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels! Be there !

K's in Flames
After having produced the new Venus in Flames album (release planned in October, title yet unknown), Gert will also join the band on tour! And... Koen, who played drums on the album, will also hit the drums on the road.

But, not everything has been said about this album yet... As a matter of fact, on bass we find Bart Delacourt who played bass for k's during the Alanis Morrissette tour back in 1997 and... (you're not gonna believe this)... there is another original k's Choice member involved in this project... Sarah! Sarah joined Jan De Campenaere and his band in the studio to do some backing vocals. So, this is definitely an album and a tour to look forward to.

The first single "Better Man" is out as we speak. More details will follow soon. More news on Venus in Flames: www.venusinflames.com (and to make the story complete... the Venus in Flames website was built by our webmaster, Pascal... it's a small world).

Running Backwards – third fan club CD available

"Unreleased songs, b-sides and exclusive live tracks released by k's fan club, TGSC."

"Running Backwards – a unique collection of songs. "

TGSC celebrates the band's 10th anniversary with the release of the club's third CD, Running Backwards, a unique collection of songs packaged in a stylish limited collector's edition digipack.

Running Backwards is a collection of very exclusive songs. Some are from the early years of the band, while others have only been released in a few countries or never released at all!

One of the most catchy tracks, Sail You, is an unreleased demo that was written for Almost Happy . The song was cut from the album because it didn't fit the album's concept, but every fan will agree that, if slightly revamped, Sail You might have been a k's Choice classic. The song grabs you from the very first note, and the driven tempo certainly has hit-song potential.

Besides a series of older b-sides such as The Day, For All This, Basically the Same, I Fall Asleep and a sumptuous live version of Little Man, Running Backwards also features Until I'm Fine, one of Gert's favourite k's Choice songs. The track was featured on a very limited edition of the Cocoon Crash album and was only released in Germany back in 1998.

To top off an already impressive setlist, Running Backwards features another previously unreleased track, Liquid Waltz, which was specially written for the concerts k's Choice did with Ensemble Polyfoon in January 2003. This live recording captures Sarah's voice carried by the sounds of the 40-piece classical choir. The flowing melody and haunting harmonies will give you goosebumps.

The CD ends on a beautiful note with Someone to Say Hi To, the song Sarah wrote for the Dutch movie Zus en Zo. As the track was only released in Belgium and Holland, it is a special gift to k's many foreign fans who were never able to get hold of the single.

This is a collection of exclusive k's Choice songs that simply could not be forgotten. Running Backwards is a must for every k's addict!

Track list: The Day, Basically the Same, I Fall Asleep, Until I'm Fine, For All This, Sail You (unreleased demo), Little Man (live), Liquid Waltz (live), Someone to Say Hi To.

Cover illustration by Gert.

Running Backwards comes in a classy collector's edition digipack (limited stock).

This CD is not available in any shop and can only be purchased via the fan club. Please use the downloadable order form. No e-mail orders. All other details on order form.

Jan Van Sichem Jr. becomes new Monza guitarist
As we speak, Jan is rehearsing for the upcoming tours of Belgian band Monza, fronted by ex-Noordkaap singer Stijn Meuris. But, no worries... "Jakke" will definitely remain k's guitarist for the upcoming gigs and band activities. On the other hand, in contrast to earlier statements, Jan will not be involved in Sarah's solo career.
